Week Catch up

Tuesday Night (at home) continued to work on trying to fix the web server issue to no avail

Wednesday 16th - arrived at Ozark Schools at 8:00 to assist the IDEAS registration for the Kindergarten and High School buildings.
Finished the registration around 12:00 and went to lunch with the Ozark Tech guys and discussed technology planning and e-rate and other technology issues while we enjoyed a home cooked fried chicken dinner at the Eagles club at Altus.
Arrived back at the coop around 1:00 and got busy working to fix the web server issue.  I was able to set up a temporary page with the 2 main links at first and then kept working and actually got a hobbled version of the server back up.  There are a lot of lost files and images due to the crash.
3:30 went to the DL lab to run the AAEA presentation.
5:00 left for home

Thursday 17th - Worked on installation of the new web server and the recreation of the pages as best I could with the missing files.  about 12:00 I got most of it set up and took a break and went to lunch.  I just was tired of typing and typing :)
After returning from lunch I was able to switch the new server on after a few more changes and adding all the users back in the system.  I still have work to do but, the core look and links are back up.  We will have to recover documents from the original creators (Marcia, Shane Gordan etc) before the site is completely back up.
Talked to Mr Fenter and Shelby about the progress on the BEE project and Mr. Fenter said he decided to purchase the Filter device rather than rent.  Also he was considering the purchase of the aggregator too.  I contacted Warren (DIS) to tell him our decision and see if that posed any problems.  He assured me that there was no problem and that I would have to purchase the devices from the state vendor and not DIS directly.  I will have to get PO etc.  Also talked to Shelby about upgrading the wireless connections in the buildings to provide better access and better management.  Also discussed improving our switches in the main buildings to managed switches that were capable of doing gigabit connectivity.
Left for home about 4:40

last night (Monday 14) I tried to remotely reboot the firewall to clear the cache and get ready for changes that need to be made.  It hung and computers at the coop were not able to reach the internet this morning.  I was aware of the situation (since I had caused it) and as soon as I got to work I corrected the issue and rebooted the firewall and now all is right in the internet world at WAESC.  I will still need to change the public number of the firewall to .14 but will wait until Wed night to do that and then go to Greenwood and fix the VPN connections for the ECP users there.

Goals for the day

  1. Continue entering IP number corrections in Google Docs to share with Shelby
  2. Work to configure PFSense to replace the IPCop in the near future
  3. Manage CIV session for Teacher eval in Conf room F
8:48 - begin correcting IP numbers in doc
9:00 - issues with the web server could not seem to correct the issues so started installing the new server.  Hope to get it up and running so I can work on it from home tonight.
12:00 - move to Conf F to get ready for the CIV on teacher evaluations this afternoon

Feb 3 and 7

I was pretty busy yesterday and forgot to post my activities from last thursday and yesterday.
Feb 3 - attended IDEAS training on producing an on-line coure for IDEAS and then our monthly TCC meeting.

Feb 7 - Got to work at 7:45 and started getting the data out of the PD survey for the Fort Smith School District.  This is a long process and I worked on it all day as I worked on other things.  Fort Smith wanted the data seperated by buildings and they have a lot of buildings.. :)
Checked on messages and mail that I missed from being out with snow and meetings and leave the week before.  Communicated with Bridge (Scranton) about alternat date for IDEAS registration processing
Talked to Mr. Fenter about the B.E.E. project and determined that we would participate and to alleviate issues would use DIS for the bandwidth contract and rent the M86 filter from DIS and only use 1 line so we would use the current router as our aggregator.
Called DIS and got ticket for B.E.E. SD26151.
Received call from Warren (DIS) and set up process to get the ball rolling on the B.E.E. bandwidth project.
Received call from Ryan (Waldron) about e-rate and assisted him.
1:30 completed data for Fort Smith
1:45 conference call with David (Rabboar) about the new Media program additions.  In attendance were Shelby, Pat, Pam, and Linda.  We viewed the new system and responded to the additions and modifications that were made.  We determined that more explaination needed to be provided for users to make it more 'friendly'.  We will print out a screen shot and provide text to David.
3:00 talked to Shelby about B.E.E. project with Mr. Fenter
3:25 emailed Kathleen (Fort Smith) about how we wanted to deliver the data for her staff to manipulate to make it best suited for the schools
3:30 left for lunch :)
